Safe Sleep Approved Hospitals

The National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program was created by Cribs for Kids and is endorsed by leading health and safety organizations.

Its goal is to award recognition to hospitals that demonstrate a commitment to community leadership for best practices and education in infant sleep safety.

A Certified Sleep Safe Approved hospital demonstrates it is committed to the mission of making babies as safe as possible in their sleep environments and eliminating as many sleep related deaths as possible.

FACTS

  • To successfully reduce sleep-related infant deaths in a community, it is critical to provide a consistent infant sleep message.

  • A hospital-based program will achieve this goal of reducing the risk of injury and death to infants while sleeping.

  • This program provides consistent infant safe sleep information to hospital personnel including medical, nursing, breastfeeding, child birth education, and nutritional staff.
